Korowa's Success At The da Vinci Decathlon 2025

Korowa recently participated in two incredible da Vinci Decathlon events, showcasing the talent, teamwork, and creativity of our students. From the State da Vinci Decathlon for Years 7–10, held at Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School (PEGS), to hosting the State Year 5 and Year 6 Da Vinci Decathlon right here on our own campus, it was a week full of intellectual challenges, collaboration, and achievement.Reflecting on the Decathlon, Year 10 Student Elsa shared:“I really enjoyed the da Vinci Decathlon competition. The vast selection of subjects (that are not just school course work) made the competition engaging and interesting. Our team also bonded during the preparation processes and formed many great memories together before and on the day. It was also nice to meet people from other schools and enjoy some friendly competition; it was really fun!”

Korowa Teams Excel at the Year 7 - 10 da Vinci Decathlon

Our Year 7–10 teams had an outstanding day at the State da Vinci Decathlon 2025 hosted at PEGS. Competing against top schools, they faced intellectually stimulating challenges across 10 disciplines, including Mathematics, Engineering, Code Breaking, Ideation, Art, and Poetry, all themed around ‘Light’. Students worked collaboratively, employing critical thinking to tackle complex problems in a highly competitive environment.Shiran, a Year 8 Student, reflected on the Decathlon:“It was really difficult, especially since it was my first time. However, it gave me a sense of pride to solve the hard questions and work together as a team.”This year’s achievements are a testament to the dedication and ability of our students:

Korowa Hosted the State Year 5 - 6 da Vinci Decathlon

Korowa had the privilege of hosting the State Year 5 and Year 6 da Vinci Decathlon 2025, which brought together 176 students from 14 schools. This exciting event gave young competitors the opportunity to showcase their talents in a variety of subjects while exploring the theme of ‘Light’.Our Year 6 students, who had competed in the event last year, took on a mentoring role, helping guide and inspire the younger participants. Their involvement added a layer of connection and reflection to the event, fostering a sense of community and growth.The results from this year’s event speak to the hard work and talent of all involved, including a special congratulations to our Year 5 students, who placed 2nd overall in the competition!

As Head of Learning Enrichment and Extension Programs, Julie Beer, shared:“The da Vinci Decathlon is not just about competition; it's also about fostering a love for learning and inspiring students to pursue excellence in all areas of their academic and personal development. By participating in the event, students have the chance to engage with a diverse range of topics, interact with their peers from other schools, and gain valuable experience that will benefit them both inside and outside the classroom.We believe that the da Vinci Decathlon is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their talents, expand their horizons, and cultivate the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly complex and interconnected world”Congratulations again to all students who participated in the 2025 da Vinci Decathlon!
