Frequently asked questions
How do extra-curricular activities benefit my child's overall development at Korowa?
Our extra-curricular activities are designed to complement academic learning and support the holistic development of each student. Through sports, arts and academic clubs, students develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication and time management.
These activities also promote wellbeing, resilience and creativity, offering students opportunities to explore new interests, build confidence, and forge strong friendships across year levels. Participating in extra-curricular activities helps students grow into well-rounded individuals, both academically and personally.
How do I register my child for extra-curricular activities or clubs?
Registration is simple. At the start of each term, students are provided with a list of available clubs and activities, along with the schedule and any sign-up instructions. Some activities require online registration, while others may be part of the weekly timetable or available on a drop-in basis. Once students register their interest, parents will be contacted to provide consent and further information. Students are encouraged to speak with their Head of Year or mentor for guidance on how to sign up. If your child is interested in a specific club, they can also directly approach the relevant staff member or activity coordinator.
Can my child participate in multiple activities? How do they balance it with schoolwork?
Yes, students are encouraged to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities, and many of our students engage in multiple pursuits. We recognise the importance of balance, so we work with students to help them manage their time effectively.
Our teachers, mentors and the Executive Leadership Team support students in finding the right balance between schoolwork, extra-curricular activities and personal time. Participation in different activities also helps students develop strong time-management skills, which are valuable for their academic success and personal growth.
Are there opportunities for my child to take on leadership roles in clubs or activities?
Yes! We actively encourage students to take on leadership roles within extra-curricular activities. Leadership opportunities are available in sports teams, music ensembles, drama productions, student clubs, and community service projects.
These roles help students build valuable leadership and organisational skills. Whether it’s leading a team, managing a club, or directing a school event, Korowa fosters a culture of leadership where students can grow in confidence and responsibility. Students can express their interest in leadership positions at the start of each term or talk to the activity coordinator or Year Leader.
