Korowa's school Houses

Known. Supported. Connected.

Whenever anyone joins Korowa – including students, teachers, and even non-teaching staff – they are welcomed into one of our four, historic School Houses. This is a cherished tradition that helps every student feel known, supported and connected from their first day. Family members attending Korowa are always in the same House, even across generations.

Close-knit communities

Belonging

By dividing the School into four Houses, Korowa creates smaller, close-knit communities within our broader school community. These communities give students a sense of belonging that lasts throughout their Korowa journey.

The House system encourages students to take pride in their House, form friendships across year levels and experience the joy of contributing to a team.

Whether through sport, the arts, academic challenges or service activities, friendly inter-House competitions motivate students to participate, try new things and celebrate each other’s achievements.

These shared experiences help build strong school spirit and create some of the most memorable moments of school life.

Confidence & Resilience

Leadership

Leadership is also woven into the House structure. Older students take on meaningful roles, such as House Captains guiding younger students and helping to organise House events. This fosters responsibility, teamwork and confidence, while giving younger students positive role models to look up to.

But the benefits of the House system extend far beyond competition. The Houses strengthen connections across year levels, encourage students of all interests and abilities to get involved, and support every girl to develop confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging.

House activities

House Sport & Carnivals

Houses compete in athletics, swimming and cross country running helping to foster belonging, leadership and friendly competition. As well as large carnivals, students also compete in House team sports like volleyball, netball and other team games.

House Performing Art

In the Senior School, our much anticipated House Performing Arts competition is a highlight every year. Houses prepare a number of performances for the school, incorporating an original dance, group singing and a drama production. There are also opportunities to participate in making props, lighting and backstage production. The program is entirely student led, giving them opportunities to gain skills in leadership, collaboration, creativity and project-management.

House Leadership Opportunities

Korowa students, especially in Senior School, can take on house-based leadership roles including House Captains and House Representatives. This enables them to contribute to decision-making, event-organising, mentoring and representing the younger students.

Broader House Activities

The House system forms part of the larger ecosystem of our school’s co-curricular and community activities, across sports, arts, clubs, social service, environment, music and more. Many of these activities are House-or school-wide, giving every student a chance to contribute.
