Learning through Music

A place to discover, develop and perform

Music at Korowa is a vibrant and integral part of school life. From first musical experiences in the Junior School to advanced ensembles, performance pathways and VCE study, girls are encouraged to explore music as a form of expression, collaboration and leadership.

Our program is deliberately broad and sequential. Whether a student is discovering her voice, learning an instrument for the first time, composing, performing in an ensemble or pursuing music at an advanced level, there are multiple entry points, and opportunities to grow.

Find her place in music

Korowa offers a wide range of ensemble and performance opportunities, designed to meet students where they are and extend them as their skills and confidence develop.

Choirs & Vocal Ensembles

Singing plays a central role in Korowa’s music culture. Students can participate in a variety of choirs and vocal ensembles across year levels, ranging from open-entry groups to auditioned ensembles for more experienced singers.

These groups perform regularly throughout the year and foster musicianship, teamwork and confidence.

Orchestras & Strings

Students learning string instruments are supported through a strong orchestral and string ensemble pathway.

From Junior School string orchestras through to advanced ensembles in the Senior School, girls experience the discipline and joy of ensemble performance while developing technical skill and musical understanding.

Bands & Contemporary Music

Korowa’s band program includes concert bands, wind and stage bands, jazz and contemporary ensembles, as well as student-led rock and contemporary groups.

These ensembles allow students to explore a range of musical styles, develop performance skills and collaborate creatively with their peers.

Music Technology, Composition & Creativity

Students are encouraged not only to perform music, but to create it.

Opportunities in composition, music technology and creative projects allow girls to experiment, compose, arrange and develop their own musical voice, supported by specialist teaching and facilities.

World & Ensemble Traditions

Distinctive ensemble opportunities, such as gamelan, broaden students’ musical horizons and expose them to global musical traditions, reinforcing music as both a cultural and collaborative practice.

Pathways
