135 Inspiring Korovians: A Tribute To Our Alumni

share

What began as an idea pre-Covid came to life in Korowa’s 135th year. The 135 Inspiring Korovians book honours those who have shaped and continue to shape the Korowa story through courage, curiosity and integrity. As Principal Frances Booth writes in her foreword:

“The stories in this book are not only a celebration of the past; they are a call to the next generation to continue the legacy of excellence, courage and service.”

Each profile offers a glimpse into life beyond the gates of Ranfurlie Crescent, shaped by the School’s enduring motto Palma Non Sine Pulvere, or the modern translation “no reward without effort.”

A tribute to those who dared to try

The 135 Korovians featured in the book were selected by Alumni Manager, Ian Robertson, for their contributions to their professions and communities, and for living the values that define a Korowa education. From innovators and educators to artists, entrepreneurs and advocates, each has made a lasting difference through perseverance and purpose. They also reflected the diversity of experience of our alumni.Reflecting on the project, Ian said:

“My most heartfelt thanks go to the 135 inspiring Korovians who comprise this book. It has been an honour and privilege to tell their story and record their achievements that so admirably reflect the ethos of Korowa and its very fine motto.”

The book brought together archival records, photographs and personal reflections gathered from across generations. What emerged is a living chronicle of achievement and impact, a powerful reminder that the Korowa story continues to grow with every graduate.

Korovians who shaped their world

135 Inspiring Korovians captures the strength and vision of women who redefined what was possible. Some of the earliest Korovians paved the way not only for future students but for women in Australia, opening doors to fields once closed to them.Their courage still resonates here at Korowa. They challenged expectations, spoke up for others, helped those in need and showed that authentic leadership begins with integrity and service. Our 2025 School Captains, Tessa and Emily, reflected on this legacy during the book launch:

“The stories in this book remind us that leaving Korowa doesn’t mean letting go. It means carrying the spirit of this place into wherever we go next.”

A legacy that lives on

The 135 Inspiring Korovians book is more than a collection of stories. As Mrs Booth reflected in her message to the Korovian community, this book is both

“a celebration of our shared past and a promise to the future.”

It is a portrait of who we are and who we hope to continue to be. It shows that education at Korowa is not confined to the classroom but lived through every act of service, every discovery and every bold idea. This book stands as a tribute to 135 years of leadership, courage and compassion. It also serves as an invitation to future Korovians to write the next chapter of this remarkable story.
