Deputy Principal, Dr Jennifer Bailey Smith, presented at the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA) Leading, Learning and Caring Conference 2026, sharing the thinking and processes behind the development of the Korowa Learning Framework.

Her presentation offered educational leaders from across Australia insight into Korowa's approach to meaningful change in teaching and learning, guided by our values and commitment to student growth.

Bringing Korowa's voice to a national stage

The AHISA Conference brings together educational leaders from across Australia to exchange ideas, challenge conventional thinking, and explore the future of independent education.

For Korowa, participating in these discussions is an opportunity to do more than learn from others. It's a chance to contribute new perspectives and showcase the work taking place within our School.

Through Dr Bailey Smith's presentation, Korowa highlighted the importance of empowering school communities to shape educational change.

The Korowa Learning Framework: Leading change with purpose

At the centre of Dr Bailey Smith's presentation was the Korowa Learning Framework, an approach to teaching and learning designed to develop confident, capable, and independent learners.

Grounded in our values of Courage, Curiosity, and Integrity, the framework places student growth at the heart of the learning experience.

Dr Bailey Smith explored its development, focusing on the role of autonomy, collaboration, and shared ownership in creating meaningful educational change.

Rather than imposing change, Korowa's approach recognises the expertise of educators, empowering them to question existing practices, contribute their perspectives, and shape a shared educational vision.

For students, this means learning in an environment that encourages curiosity, builds confidence, and develops the independence to take ownership of their learning. For families, it reflects Korowa's commitment to an education that prepares students not only for academic success, but for the opportunities and challenges beyond school.

Helping shape the future of education

Korowa's participation in the AHISA Conference reflects our commitment to educational leadership beyond our classrooms.

By sharing the development of the Korowa Learning Framework, we demonstrated how schools can embrace change, strengthen professional autonomy, and remain grounded in their values.

At Korowa, we don't simply respond to the future of education. We want to help shape it.
