This week, three Korowa teams competed at the 2025 STEM Racing Victorian State Final, held at Wyndham Tech School. STEM Racing Finals brought together some of the state’s brightest young minds to test their design, engineering and racing skills in a fast-paced, high-energy competition.Korowa was proudly represented by Year 9 team Veluna and Year 8 teams Expedite and Lumetra. Each team brought bold ideas, creative problem-solving and strong collaboration to every stage of the challenge.

“The STEM Racing program was a great opportunity for me to extend my skills in the STEM sector and fuel my passion for engineering. As design engineer, I encountered principles I’d never see in a regular classroom and learnt so much along the way.”– Joy, Year 9

Korowa's Success at STEM Racing Finals

Throughout the day, each Korowa team delivered an outstanding performance, earning recognition for innovation, precision and teamwork:

  • Veluna placed third in the Development Class and won Best Reaction Time, showing exceptional focus and accuracy.
  • Expedite placed third in the Cadet Class and received the Students’ Choice award, recognised by peers for creativity and spirit.
  • Lumetra secured second in the Cadet Class and took home Best Engineered Car, a testament to their technical excellence and attention to detail.
“I really enjoyed learning how to use the CNC machine and 3D printer, and meeting people from other schools with similar interests in engineering.”– Evelyn, Year 8

Korowa’s Approach to Real-World STEM Learning

Beyond the competition, students discovered how classroom concepts come alive through hands-on experimentation. From concept sketches to aerodynamics testing, the STEM Racing experience gave students the chance to apply theory to real-world challenges. Through this process, they developed design thinking and persistence, they discovered the excitement of creating something from the ground up.

“I enjoyed creating a miniature F1 car and learning new programs like CFD and Fusion 360. The STEM Racing program was such a rewarding experience—I learnt so much and had a lot of fun.”– Amelia, Year 8

Korowa Empowers Future STEM Leaders

These results reflect the strength of Korowa’s STEM and Engineering programs and the courage of students who dare to try new things. Beyond awards and accolades, the experience-built confidence, problem-solving ability and teamwork skills that will drive their future success in STEM and beyond.Korowa congratulates all team members and mentors for their hard work and innovation. Their achievements embody the Korowa spirit and inspires the next generation of future engineers and creators.
