Australia is fortunate to have a strong education system and a long tradition of public investment in schools. Many people reasonably ask why schools should seek philanthropic support when education is already funded through government and family contributions.

Educational philanthropy should never replace a school's responsibility to educate its students, nor should it substitute for public investment in education.
