Supporting students through VCE
VCE at Korowa is more than a list of subjects. From Year 10 onwards, students work closely with our Student Futures team and Heads of Faculty to design a program that fits their interests, university goals and wellbeing. We help them balance challenge with support, so they can aim high and still feel confident and cared for.
Thoughtful subject selection
Students receive one-on-one course counselling, information sessions and subject tasters, so choices are made with clarity, not guesswork.
Clear pathways
Whether a student is aiming for Medicine, Design, Apprenticeships or isn’t sure yet, we map subject choices to possible pathways and keep options open wherever possible.
Academic care & feedback
Regular feedback, practice exams and subject workshops help students track progress and build exam confidence, while parents can stay informed and involved.
Balanced with wellbeing
VCE is demanding. Our pastoral care, House system and wellbeing programs sit alongside academic support so students can manage workload, sleep and stress in healthy ways.

Choosing subjects
Subject selection is a partnership. We don’t expect students or families to navigate VCE alone. Our process includes:
- Information evenings that unpack VCE, VET and university extension options in plain language.
- Individual course-counselling meetings to align subjects with interests and possible post-school pathways.
- Ongoing check-ins to adjust programs where appropriate and ensure workload is manageable.
Our goal is simple: every student leaves Korowa with a VCE program that reflects who she is, and where she’d like to go next, even if she’s still discovering that.

Pathways & special special options
VET studies
For students who enjoy practical, career-focused learning, Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects allow them to work towards a nationally recognised certificate while completing their VCE. Delivered with our Inner Melbourne VET Cluster partners, VET programs add breadth and can lead directly to apprenticeships, further training or university pathways in areas such as health, business, technology and the creative industries.
VET enrolments are subsidised but do incur an additional fee, which varies by course. Families receive indicative costs during the subject selection process.
University extension
High-achieving students may be invited to complete a university subject in Year 12 through selective programs run by institutions such as the University of Melbourne, Deakin University or RMIT. These programs are delivered directly by the university and give students a supported introduction to campus learning while completing their VCE.
Students study a first-year university subject alongside their VCE, experience campus life, and may earn credit towards a degree as well as an ATAR boost, all with Korowa support to ensure the workload is manageable.
Higher Education Studies
Higher Education Studies (HES) is a VCE pathway that allows eligible students to enrol in a first-year university subject, often in partnership with Monash University, as part of their senior program.
Students receive an ATAR increment and may gain credit towards a future degree, supported by Korowa’s academic guidance.
