To celebrate Korowa Anglican Girls’ School’s 135th birthday, our Year 12 students had a special opportunity to sit down and interview our youngest learners, the Preps! In a fun and heartwarming video, Year 12 students Nellie and Chloe took time out of their busy day studying for exams, to chat with our littlest Korovians, sharing stories about the rich history of the school.
Buddy Program: Year 12s Interview Preps
The video is a powerful reminder of the close bonds that unite generations of Korovians. For some of our Year 12 students, including Nellie and Chloe, Korowa has been their home since Prep – what we affectionately call our ‘lifers.’ As part of our Buddy Program, these ‘lifers’ meet with the Preps once a week during lunch for activities like reading, drawing, and storytelling. The goal of this connection is simple yet impactful: to inspire, encourage, and show our younger students the boundless possibilities that await them during their journey at Korowa.
In the video, the Preps were asked to share their knowledge of Korowa’s past, and their answers were as adorable as they were unexpected. One of the most delightful moments? The Preps thought Korowa had only been around for 20 years! It’s moments like these that remind us how much our school has grown and evolved over the years.
A 135th Birthday Reflection with our Preps
This exchange not only brought laughter but also gave us a chance to reflect on Korowa’s remarkable 135-year journey. From its humble beginnings with a single student in Malvern to the vibrant, expansive school on Ranfurlie Crescent that we know today, Korowa’s growth is a testament to the dedication and leadership of those who have shaped its history, including our founding Principal, Mrs. Henrietta Akehurst. Her vision laid the foundation for what Korowa has become, and the spirit of that legacy continues to inspire us all.
