The Energy of a New Term

There’s something truly special about the beginning of a new term. The energy across the campus this week has been uplifting. Classrooms are alive with curiosity, the grounds echo with laughter, and there’s a renewed sense of purpose as we come together once again. It’s a reminder of the strength and warmth of our Korowa community, and how much we thrive when we’re learning and growing together.

Leadership in the Making: Interviews with Our Year 12 School Captain Candidates

This week, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing our Year 12 students who have applied for the role of School Captain. These interviews are always a highlight of the year for me. They offer a window into the hearts and minds of our senior students—young people who are not only thinking deeply about leadership, but also about the kind of legacy they want to leave.

The Traits of Great Leaders

What has struck me most in these conversations is the clarity with which our students speak about the qualities they believe make a great leader. They talk about empathy—the ability to understand and support others. They speak of role-modelling—being someone others can look up to. They highlight the importance of showing genuine interest in their peers and in the broader school community. And they express a strong desire to make positive changes that will benefit everyone at Korowa.

Korowa’s Future: Leadership Beyond the Classroom

These are not just admirable traits for a student leader; they are the very qualities that define effective leadership in the wider world. Whether in education, business, or community life, the ability to lead with compassion, integrity, and vision is what makes a lasting impact. It’s incredibly heartening to see these values so clearly reflected in our students.

As we look ahead to the School Captain elections later this term, I feel a deep sense of optimism. The future is in good hands with our young people. Their thoughtfulness, courage, and commitment to making a difference are a testament to the values we nurture here at Korowa.

Embracing Opportunities and Supporting One Another

<p>I encourage all students to embrace the opportunities this term will bring—whether in the classroom, on the stage, in sport, or through service. Let’s continue to support one another, celebrate each other’s achievements, and stay open to the possibilities that lie ahead.
