This week, the prestigious Premier’s VCE Awards recognised the outstanding achievements of students in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). Presented by the Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allan, the awards were presented to Victoria’s top-performing 2024 VCE Students. Among those celebrated was Jacqueline Deng, Korowa’s VCE Dux for the Class of 2024, who received Premier’s VCE Awards for Physics and Chemistry, as well as a Top All-Round VCE High Achievers Award. This highly regarded award acknowledges students who achieve scores of 46 or higher in five or more subjects in their final year of study, and we are incredibly proud of Jacqueline for earning this recognition. Jacqueline achieved an ATAR of 99.9, with perfect scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Specialist Mathematics, the latter of which she completed as part of her Year 11 studies.
Jacqueline’s dedication to her studies, particularly in the challenging fields of Physics and Chemistry, was celebrated by her teacher, Pramana Tedjosiswoyo, whose support and guidance were integral to Jacqueline’s success. Pramana Tedjosiswoyo attended the awards ceremony alongside Jacqueline and shared his pride in her achievements:
“Jacqueline always approached her studies with a genuine sense of curiosity and passion for discovery. Her quest to always further her understanding of the abstract ideas covered in Physics and Chemistry was evident in the way she would question and challenge the ways in which these ideas could be applied. I’m incredibly proud of her achievements and was honoured to be able to share in the celebration of her success.”
At Korowa, academic excellence is just one part of our mission. We don’t simply teach students to succeed; we equip them to push boundaries, embrace challenges, and lead with integrity. Jacqueline’s accomplishments reflect not just her hard work and dedication, but the spirit of leadership that Korowa strives to cultivate in all our students. Jacqueline’s success is a testament to the power of curiosity, perseverance, and a commitment to continuous growth, qualities that define our school community. Her achievement sets the stage for even greater things to come, and we look forward to seeing her continue to lead and inspire in whatever path she chooses.
Korowa is proud to nurture young women who not only excel academically but also make a real, lasting difference in the world. As we celebrate Jacqueline’s success, we are reminded of our unwavering commitment to developing leaders who will shape the future with courage, curiosity, and integrity.
