Music, once admitted to the soul, becomes a sort of spirit, and never dies. Music is the universal language of mankind.

Music has always been a feature at Korowa and the School values all aspects of its extensive performing arts program. Our honour boards are testament to the importance placed on Music in the curriculum with Music Captains, School Pianists and Head Koristers names being recorded for posterity. The School has also been well served by its Directors of Music – passionate women who challenged students to extend their musicality and encouraged in them a love of performing.

The Margaret McPherson Music School was opened in 1990 and has served the School well. However, over time our needs have changed as the music program has grown, particularly in terms of ensembles. Therefore, our focus for this year’s Annual Giving is the wish to create a larger rehearsal space on the second floor within the existing building that will complement the Music Studio downstairs.

Thank you for your support and generosity.

The Robin WrightMusic Studio

We need your help to achieve this goal and in so doing you will also be helping us to honour a past Director of Music, the late Robin Wright. We wish to formally acknowledge the contribution made by Robin to the enhancement of our Music program in the naming of The Robin Wright Music Studio. Robin taught at Korowa from 1964 to 1984 and in those years brought to her work outstanding ability and vitality and was described as a person ‘with a great capacity to work, with an enthusiasm that never wanes and high professional standards’. She expected much from her students and they rose to the challenge. We are grateful for your support in helping us to achieve our vision and, at the same time, honour this inspiring woman who gave so much to Music at Korowa.
