Korowa has a strong development program for our swimmers and divers, led by an elite group of coaching staff. Swimming is one of our most popular and successful sports at Korowa.

In the Junior School, swimming is an integral part of Physical Education classes. From ELC, students participate in an intensive swimming program each year. From Year 3 onwards students are involved in House Swimming competitions and have the opportunity to represent Korowa in District and Division competitions as well as further pathways to State or National level through School Sport Victoria (SSV) competitions.

In the Cripps and Senior School, girls have the opportunity to compete in House Swimming and inter-school Girls Sport Victoria (GSV) competitions. Girls work with an elite coaching team from one of the highest achieving swimming clubs in Australia, Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club.

The Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club (MVC) delivers coaching, squad training and learn-to-swim programs to the Korowa Junior, Cripps and Senior students. Students utilise both the School’s heated indoor pool and the MVC facilities at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) in Albert Park. MVC also operates its own swimming school at Korowa after-school and on Saturday mornings.

Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club

Since its establishment in 1988, Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club (MVC) is one of the highest achieving and most successful swimming clubs in Australia. MVC has a strong culture of high performance. As illustrated by its Hall of Fame, the Club has developed many swimming champions that have represented Australia at the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games. The list of swimmers include Grant Hackett, Matt Welsh, Nicole Livingstone, Michael Klim and Giaan Rooney. The culture of high performance continues to this day with three current swimmers Mack Horton, Kotuku Ngawati and Daniel Cave achieving national representation for the upcoming World Championships.

The MVC squad program is comprehensive, providing for competitive swimmers from eight years to elite international athletes and on to adult squads for swimmers enjoying a mix of competitive and social swimming. A number of club representatives attend Korowa and both the Club and School are proud of this partnership. Almost 15% of the total National Squad at MVC have progressed from the School and Learn to Swim program.
