Korowa has a strong development program for our swimmers and divers, led by an elite group of coaching staff.

In the Junior School, swimming is an integral part of Physical Education classes. From ELC 4 to Year 6, students participate in a fortnightly swimming program each year. From Year 3 onwards, students are involved in House Swimming competitions and have the opportunity to represent Korowa in interschool SSV and GSV competitions with further pathways to State or National level.

The Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club (MVC) delivers learn-to-swim programs, fitness coaching and squad training to the Korowa Junior and Senior students. Diving Victoria coaches teach a development program for Year 3 upwards and coach the representative squads for SSV and GSV competitions. Students utilise both the School’s heated indoor pool and the facilities at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC).

Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club

Since its establishment in 1988, Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club (MVC) is one of the highest achieving and most successful swimming clubs in Australia. MVC has a strong culture of high performance. As illustrated by its Hall of Fame, the Club has developed many swimming champions that have represented Australia at the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games. The list of swimmers include Grant Hackett, Matt Welsh, Nicole Livingstone, Michael Klim and Giaan Rooney. The culture of high performance continues to this day with swimmers Mack Horton, Kotuku Ngawati and Daniel Cave achieving national representation in the World Championships.

The MVC squad program is comprehensive, providing for competitive swimmers from eight years to elite international athletes and on to adult squads for swimmers enjoying a mix of competitive and social swimming. A number of club representatives attend Korowa and both the Club and School are proud of this partnership. Almost 15% of the total National Squad at MVC have progressed from the School and Learn to Swim program. With the combination of a strong coaching team and experience in producing excellence, Melbourne Vicentre is well positioned to bring out the best for Korowa swimmers.
