At every phase of the Korowa journey, our students are encouraged to step outside the traditional classroom and experience learning in a range of contexts.
Year 3
Camp Manyung, Mount Eliza
The program involves girls participating in a wide range of outdoor experiences including kitchen gardening and food preparation, tree climbing and a flying fox. It aims to foster independence, develop social cohesion with peers, encourage an attitude of responsible risk taking and an appreciation of nature.

Marysville, Lake Mountain
The program involves girls participating in a wide range of outdoor experiences including kitchen gardening, bouldering, low ropes course, bush walking and indigenous music. It aims to foster independence, develop social cohesion with peers, encourage an attitude of responsible risk taking and an appreciation of the natural environment.

Year 5
Camp Jungai, Rubicon Valley, Victoria
With a strong emphasis on fun and adventure, this program is designed to assist students in connecting with the natural environment and developing excitement for exploring the great outdoors. The girls will sleep overnight in a tent on the Camp Jungai Oval for one of the nights. Daytime activities include canoeing, learning about indigenous tucker and medicine, a high ropes course and orienteering.

Year 6
Korowa to the Capital
This trip to Australia’s capital city of Canberra is an opportunity for the girls to learn about aspects of Australia’s legal and political systems as well as to explore a range of significant national venues in the fields of the arts, science and sport. Students develop increased self awareness as they experience interstate travel with their peers and discover some of the institutions that shape their daily lives.

Year 7
Northern Territory / Top End
The purpose of the trip is to introduce girls to a range of aspects of indigenous culture in the context of the fascinating natural landscape of the Northern Territory. Throughout the experience girls participate in a range of activities with their peers designed to facilitate new friendships, strengthen existing ones and develop emotional intelligence.

NASA Junior Space Science School
In partnership with the California Association for STEAM Education (CASE) and NASA, the CASE Space School is an international study program aimed at developing students’ critical skills for success, providing higher order thinking and exposure to real-world problems. Students visit Houston and Huntsville in the USA to participate in a range of enriched Earth and Space Science activities including immersion in Astronaut training at the U.S. Space and Rocket Centre. The core focus is on fostering students’ personal development and growth as well as furthering their interest and knowledge in the application of STEAM.
Duration: 13 nights
Dates: June to July 2020

This is an optional tour for up to 20 students from Years 7 and 8

Year 8
Far North Queensland/Cairns
This trip aims to develop an understanding of many aspects of eco-tourism and environmental sustainability. It engages girls in a range of educational and social activities within Far North Queensland that facilitates their connections with each other as well as the flora and fauna of the natural tropical environment. Eco-tourism and sustainability are a major theme of the activities in which the girls are involved throughout the experience.

Year 9
Year 9 can be a socially and emotionally difficult time for your daughter. Our ‘Year 9 Challenges’ allow your daughter to test herself, gain confidence and grow in her understanding of self and others.
Project Empathy
This CBD-based program enables girls to focus on social justice issues within the heart of Melbourne. Students work collaboratively to explore perspectives on a targeted issues identifying needs and developing a heightened sense of empathy. Girls develop and design innovative solutions to these issues using technology and entrepreneurial skills, and conclude the week with a business presentation and celebration for all parents in the City.

Korowa Trek
Students choose either Trek or Urban Challenge for their
Term 4 Experience. Trek is a four week unique wilderness
adventure where girls learn to be self-sufficient campers
and journey by foot, bike and raft from the Victorian Alps to
Ninety Mile Beach. Trek develops self-esteem, confidence,
leadership and interpersonal skills as students learn to
manage their emotional responses to difficult and stressful
situations. The Outdoor Education Group (OEG) plan
the logistics and provide professional group leaders and
equipment.
Duration: Four weeks

Urban Challenge
This dynamic program allows students to explore urban
environments in Melbourne, Sydney and regional Victoria.
Girls spend two weeks away, with one week based in
Melbourne. Urban Challenge caters for a wide range of
skills and abilities and allows students to find appropriate
levels of personal challenge and build mental toughness.
Girls work to their strengths while also finding important
opportunities for challenge and growth.

Year 10
Tasmania Adventure Trip
In Year 10, girls have the chance to experience a range of outdoor activities within the context of various heritage listed natural and physical environments in Tasmania. It extends the skills developed in the Year 9 outdoor and urban programs, further strengthening friendships and individual personal development.

Cambodia Service Learning Journey
The Cambodian Service Learning Journey is a unique opportunity for Year 10 girls to challenge their own views of themselves and others, deepen their awareness of the nature of resilience when facing adversity, and to understand their authentic social responsibility whilst remaining respectful of difference and diversity. The girls serve the community supported by the Cambodian Children’s Fund and the people of Cambodia by setting goals, developing plans, taking action and realising the impact they can have on global issues.
Length: 13 nights

French Language Exchange Program
Girls immerse themselves in French language and culture by living in France for a period of 3 weeks. The girls are hosted by a French family and attend a French school in Bordeaux on a regular basis with local students. They also undertake a range of excursions whilst in France to sites of cultural significance.

German Language Exchange Program
The program provides the opportunity for girls to immerse themselves in the German language and culture by living in Bogen, Germany for a period of 3 weeks. The girls are hosted by a German family and attend school at the Veit-Hoser-Gymnasium on a regular basis with local students. They also undertake a range of excursions whilst in Germany to sites of cultural significance.

Chinese Language Exchange Program
Girls immerse themselves in Chinese language and culture by living in Shanghai. The girls are hosted by the High School Affiliated to Fudan University and stay in accommodation at the Qingpu Campus. They attend school on a regular basis with local students whilst also undertaking excursions of cultural significance during their experience.

Japanese Language Exchange Program
Girls immerse themselves in Japanese language and culture by living in Japan for a period of 3 weeks. The girls are hosted by a Japanese family and regularly attend the Hikarigaokajoshi Girls’ High School in Okazaki with local students. They also undertake a range of excursions whilst in Japan to sites of cultural significance.
