Wellbeing: Year 7 and 8

In the Cripps Centre, each girl belongs to a Cripps Program Advisory group and she enjoys daily interaction with her Advisor and Advisory Group peers.

Working with Leaders

Cripps Advisors work closely with our Cripps wellbeing leaders, including the Heads of Year and Head of Cripps, to monitor the academic and social progress of each girl.

Our staff work closely with each girl and her family to ensure that as she negotiates the challenges of the Cripps Program, she develops the skills, attributes and resources she needs to enable herself to be self disciplined, self aware, collaborative and creative and a leader who serves others.

Holistic Development

In addition to these important relationships, our Middle School girls are supported in their holistic development through participation in the engaging Learning for Leading Program. This concept based wellbeing program ensures that all Middle School students engage with the idea of Leadership as not simply a set of generic skills that can be pinned to an individual like a badge.

At Korowa we believe that leadership qualities and capabilities must be developed and nurtured in all our students throughout their time with us, such that each student graduates with the quality of leadership.

Social and Emotional Learning Competencies

In addition, the Learning for Leading Program builds on our girls' Social and Emotional Learning competencies including:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-management
  • Social awareness
  • Relationship skills
  • Responsible decision-making
  • Self-kindness/compassion

As part of this important work, Cripps girls consider both Growth Mindsets and Neuroplasticity and the ways in which these two concepts connect. Through a series of workshops they investigate and practice ways in which they can modify both their thinking and approach learning.

Essential to this, is developing the understanding that a growth mindset, rather than a fixed mindset, enables our girls to experience enjoyment and success in their learning.
