By Ms Antoinette Domoney, Head of Art
On the 24th of August a group of very enthusiastic Visual Art and Visual Communication Design students headed to Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) to curate and set up their Pop-Up Art Exhibition. The title of the show was ‘Super Heroes’ and girls delved deeply into a myriad of interpretations relating to this theme. Dynamic representations which ranged from installation, textile design, digital prints, animation, photography and painting were expertly hung under the guiding hand of Melissa Bedford, (Education and Audience Development Officer at Monash University).
Artists collaborated with the Curatorial Collective, our wonderful technician, Mr Smith, teachers Ms Lombardo and Ms Domoney to prepare for the night. Preparation included invitations, advertising posters, logistics and signage. ‘Super Heroes’ was open to the public as it was being set and students conversed with Monash University students, members of the public and curators throughout the day. The evening saw the launch of a sensational show and students enjoyed the time celebrating their success with family and friends.
