Breaking the code in the da Vinci Decathlon

Let us guide you Let us guide you

From poetry, code breaking and creative producing - the da Vinci Decathlon tested the minds of our Year 7 girls across many disciplines.

Our eager team of Year 7 students cracked the code and placed first and third in two categories in the da Vinci Decathlon inter-schools competition.

The academic competition is designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students and was held on Monday 7 May 2018.

Below, the team reflects on the day:

Emma Huibers, Molly Lassen, Charlotte Walsh, Cherry Zheng, Coco Wang, Chantelle Yin, Daphne Papas and Tzi Tzi Ding  competed in the Regional Finals of the da Vinci Decathlon.

The Decathlon was an all-day event that took place at St. Leonard’s College and consisted of 10 disciplines; English, art & poetry, creative producers, science, mathematics, cartography, general knowledge, engineering, code breaking and ideation. Each girl chose the disciplines they worked best in and attempted the incredibly difficult questions.

We were pushed to our limits and amazingly managed to complete the majority of questions. Incredibly, we managed to come third in the English discipline and first in the Creative Producers discipline! The decathlon was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
