Dr John Wilson was Bishop of the Southern Region of the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne and as a trained teacher he spent 3 years as an Education Officer in Papua New Guinea.
He was a graduate of London and Yale universities, completing his PhD in Biblical Studies at Duke University. A highly valued and respected member of the Korowa community, he was Chair of the Korowa School Council for 16 years and led many significant acts of worship and key ceremonies of the school until his retirement in 2001.
He maintained his Korowa links by continuing to conduct the inductions of Year 12 Student Leaders on several occasions. He was a scholar and author of several books. His family said at the opening service "he would have been chuffed at being remembered in this way."
