At Korowa’s Early Learning Centre (ELC), our access to a wide range of resources enables us to dive deeper into children’s interests and provide them with an exceptional learning experience.
Specialist classes and facilities
We believe in nurturing every child’s passion and curiosity, and we offer specialist classes in various subjects to enhance their learning journey. We have dedicated staff members and technicians who our ELC students visit in their dedicated learning spaces – such as art, music, and the library. Children sing, explore different musical instruments, and unleash their creativity with the guidance of our specialist music staff.
The PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) room within our Sports and Wellbeing Centre is dedicated to enhancing motor skills through fun and interactive activities. Students in ELC 4 enjoy the swimming program in our on-site pool, allowing them to develop confidence and water skills. Moreover, our ELC students have access to the Junior School Library, fostering a love for reading and expanding their knowledge, they also do Yoga following their weekly library lessons.
In our Junior School Science Laboratory, the children engage in hands-on science experiments, discoveries and cooking explorations. Our ELC offers longer hours and flexible days from 8:30am to 2:45pm. Allowing families to choose a schedule that suits their needs while ensuring their child receives high-quality education and care.
Meet Ivy, Korowa’s companion dog
We understand the positive impact of animals on children’s wellbeing and emotional development. At Korowa, we have Ivy, our school’s companion dog, who brings joy, comfort, and companionship to our students. Ivy is a cherished member of our Korowa community, and lives with our Head of Learning Support, Shannon. Ivy provides a unique and nurturing environment for all the students at Korowa.
Learning support and wellbeing programs
We believe in providing a holistic approach to education, catering to each child’s unique needs. Our ELC boasts highly qualified Teachers and Educators who are passionate and dedicated to creating a learning environment that is a warm and inviting space for children to discover a deep love of learning, ensuring excellence in staff and expertise. Each child benefits from having at least one staff member who continues with them from ELC 3 to ELC 4, fostering a sense of continuity and familiarity.
Sense of community
At Korowa, we believe in creating a strong sense of community. Through our buddy program, children in ELC 3 are paired with students from Year 4, ELC 4 with Year 5, and Prep with Year 6. This fosters friendships, mentorship, and a sense of belonging from an early age. Furthermore, our ELC students have the opportunity to interact with Year 11 Health and Human Development students, who incorporate ELC activities into their curriculum, promoting empathy and social development.
