To celebrate our 135th anniversary, Korowa set out to create something meaningful and lasting. We wanted to honour our proud history while showcasing the creativity and talent of our students. The solution? A student-designed commemorative badge to mark this important milestone.

Real-World Learning: Designing the Korowa 135th Anniversary Badge

As part of the project, Viscom (Visual Communication) students were invited to design the Korowa 135th anniversary badge. Korowa’s Marketing Department acted as the client, providing a professional design brief to guide the creative process. This gave students valuable insight into how real-world design projects come to life.

They explored themes, symbols and values that reflect Korowa’s identity as a distinctive and connected community. Each student brought their own interpretation—but one design stood out.

Student Badge Design Inspired by Korowa’s Identity

Student Tess, then in Year 9, approached the brief with enthusiasm and a strong creative vision. She took inspiration from Korowa’s iconic palm leaf motif—a symbol woven through our visual identity. Her design balanced tradition with new ideas, capturing the heart of what Korowa represents.

Ultimately, Tess’s design was selected as the final badge. Now, her creation is proudly worn by students, staff and Korovians as a symbol of this historic moment.
