ELC (4 Yr Old Kindergarten)
Beading tasks using a range of beads of different colours, shapes and sizes target the needs of individual students. Tasks may involve picking up beads that fit a certain description and placing the on grids according to given patterns and pictures. Threading beads of different sizes presents a range of challenges and results in a variety of products according to the level of development of each student. The process is more important than the product as teachers help students to build on existing skills and foster development of increasingly finer motor skill co-ordination as well as creativity.
YEAR 3
Living in the City
In this unit of inquiry, students work on individual contracts based on Bloom's Multiple Intelligences. A grid of activities is offered to enable student choice with points allocated for tasks chosen. These points are modified depending on student ability so that both modification and extension of core curriculum is provided. Products can vary according to the choice and creativity of individual students.
YEAR 6 - 9
House Arts
This unit demands performance, administration, organizational and team management, interpersonal skills and abilities in conducting, directing, choreographing, acting, dancing, stage design ... everyone has the opportunity to contribute and shine in areas of interest and talent!
A 30 minute structured performance meeting all set criteria and judged by an external expert adjudicator is the final product. Students take complete control over scheduling and project development, utilising lunchtimes and after school to involve all members of their House Team. Culminating in a night of public performance, this unit is truly differentiated in content, process, product and learning environment, and is an excellent example of student-centred learning
