Basketball Skills Blitz
Year 6 students from Korowa Anglican Girls’ School were put through their paces by rising basketball star and Melbourne Tigers player Lucas Walker in a skills clinic today.
Lucas ran two 45-minute intensive clinics with the Year 6 class, covering a number of skills including ball handling, passing and shooting. The emphasis of the skills clinic was for the girls to have fun playing basketball, but also to learn new skills and improve their technique.
After the clinic, girls had the opportunity to hear from Lucas about a typical day in the life of an NBL player and how professional basketballers prepared for their games.
Lucas has been a player with the Tigers for the last three years and was an Australian Institute of Sport graduate who has also played college basketball in the US for St Mary’s College.
