I support Korowa
In 2013, we are seeking your support for three areas: new furniture for the Theatrette and the Tuckshop, the Library Fund and the Scholarship Fund.
Since the renovation of the Senior School in 2005, the Theatrette has been a space in high demand. With capacity of over 100 and housing the latest in audio-visual technology and air-conditioning, this room is frequently used for student classes, house meetings, staff meetings and events such as open mornings and parent seminars. At the time of the renovation, 30 cushioned theatrette chairs with desk returns and 70 café style wooden chairs were installed. Our plan is to replace many of the café style chairs over time with cushioned theatrette chairs which will be a very welcome addition to the Theatrette.
The Tuckshop is an area where students like to congregate at lunch time. The existing wooden chairs will be relocated to the Tuckshop and funds raised will also contribute to the purchase of extra casual seating and tables to provide a more welcoming common space for students.
At the beginning of the digital age, there were concerns for the future for libraries, in particular the shrinking demand in the use of libraries and books. In fact, quite the opposite has happened. Korowa’s libraries, and our librarians, play a critical role in managing, sorting and authenticating information. With almost 400 girls across the School participating in the Premiers’ Reading Challenge this year, interest in books of all genres remains strong. At Korowa we are committed to continuing to developing our students’ love of reading and gifts to the Library Fund will help to ensure our libraries remain an important part of the fabric of the School.
As always, we very much welcome gifts to the Scholarship Fund. In challenging economic times, scholarships are one way we can continue to assist students with great potential and their families to access and make the most of all that Korowa has to offer.
Please join many other members of the School community in supporting Annual Giving 2013. Your donation to our Library or Scholarship Funds is fully tax-deductible – gifts to assist with purchasing furniture for the Theatrette and the Tuckshop are not tax-deductible.
