Student wins national photography prize

'Autumn Cheek', by Hannah White (Year 9)

Year 9 Korowa student Hannah White has been awarded the Year 9 - 10 Ilford Student Photo and Digital Imaging competition for her striking work, "Autumn Cheek".

The work was inspired by the iconic leaves of Autumn. "When I was photographing my model Giorgia, leaves kept falling behind her and in her face. I used them to help illustrate the connection between my portrait of Giorgia and the season, which is ironically often used to describe the changes we experience throughout life," Hannah explained.

An Australia-wide competition that attracts hundreds of student entries each term, Ilford judges look for creativity, photographic technique and darkroom technique when selecting winners. Certificates of Merit were also awarded to Georgia Dillon and Louise Voselis from Year 9 for their prints.
