Maths Talent
22 October 2008
In its 26th year, the Maths Talent Quest (MTQ) promotes mathematics across the curriculum and provides students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of mathematics to a diverse range of topics. It encourages students to think deeply about mathematics and to use mathematics in everyday contexts.
The Maths Talent Quest (MTQ) was first held in 1982. It is organised by the Student Activities Committee of The Mathematical Association of Victoria and is open to all primary and secondary students in Victoria and Tasmania. The MTQ aims to promote interest in mathematics and foster positive attitudes amongst students, teachers and parents. The focus is on the process of mathematical investigations.
Students are to be congratulated for the interest and enthusiasm with which they tackled this challenge. All of the participants in the Mathematics Challenge Group expressed enjoyment in investigating the mathematics involved in a topic of their own choice.
