Philip Stokes Glass – an exhibition not to miss from September 2-6

25 August 2008

His studio provides workshop access and support for emerging glass artists and provides a vibrant arena for creative exchange. Philip Stokes glass sculptures can be found in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, the Sheraton Hotel in Xiamen China and many private and corporate collections in Australia and around the world. He is a regular speaker at creative forums and his work is highly sought after by the private sector.

Inspiration for his work.
Philip has a background in theatre and finds handling hot glass surprisingly similar to being on stage. Spontaneity, improvisation and chance are all elements that he enjoys and exploits in the making and final installation of his work. According to Philip, making large scale works is exactly like a choreographed dance where the ensemble of glass artist s works as one to create expressive, movement suggestive, sculptural works in hot glass.
At Gallery Ranfurlie, Philip will be showing some of his larger sculptural pieces and smaller functional pieces which will be available for viewing and purchase throughout the duration of the show.
Please join us for the opening at Gallery Ranfurlie, Tuesday 2 September 6.30pm -8.30pm or visit the Gallery Wed - Sat 1-4pm.
