During the Middle School's Mr Toad production, the Gallery hosted an exhibition of posters design by the Year 10 Design Skills class. It has become a tradition for the Year 10 Design students to submit designs for school productions as a design task. One design is then chosen for the main publicity poster and program. This year the honour went to Vivian Kuang whose vibrant work adorned the program and real estate boards around the area. Congratulations to Vivian.
The Gallery also hosted a Zine Fair and Visual Art Display by Year 9 students who have just completed their first semester electives. Zines, Black & White Photography, sculpture and digital photo stories were on display at lunchtime. The Year 9 students had a great time selling their zines and badges and raised $200 for Bangladesh. They really appreciated the support and encouragement of students and staff and there was a great atmosphere in the gallery. Look out for more fantastic Year 9 creativity at the annual Art walk in November.
The next public event at Gallery Ranfurlie will be an exhibition of the work of renowned glass artist, Phillip Stokes. Phillip has a studio at the Convent Gallery in Abbotsford ands some of the senior art students will be visiting his studio in conjunction with the show. There will be an opportunity to view and purchase some of Phillips exquisite glass pieces at the opening on Tuesday 2 September. More details will be released closer to the show.
