Building Bridges of Peace and Friendship
31 March 2009
What a great day was had by all when Korowa's Year 10 Ethics classes visited The Australian International Academy in Coburg. The Islamic girls were so welcoming and the Korowa girls were equally engaged in making new friends and immersing themselves in the whole experience of sharing the journey as young Australians living in a multicultural society.
As we boarded the train home there were exclamations of excitement and delight from our students at the thought we might meet with the same group of girls again this year for a follow up ‘Australiana' joint activity. Their appreciation of the day was paralleled by similar reactions from the Islamic girls according to their teacher, Im Yeoh, who spoke with them afterwards. "They couldn't believe how well the day went!" she said.
