House Chorals - a treat for all!

27 February 2009

Last Wednesday's House Chorals demonstrated the outstanding initiative, team work, talent, energy and drive of our students.  The set piece ‘Feed the Birds' showed each choir's ability to interpret the music. Mr George Torbay, renowned choral conductor and judge of Battle of the Choirs, commented on the fine quality of vocal tone and the high level of piano accompaniment.  Mr Torbay was particularly impressed with the original compositions which showed the creativity of our students. The Best Pianist award was given to Stephanie Ho for her accompaniment of the set song. Bhairavi Raman (Jamieson) was awarded the Best Conductor for her conducting of the set song, the instrumental item and the special item. Mr Torbay also made special mention of the fine work of Anne Moffat (Jamieson) as one of the arrangers of the original song and the arranger of the instrumental item. The dance adjudicator Ms Fiona McGrath was impressed with the energy and the enthusiasm evident in all of the dances that catered to the different levels of ability and experience.

Congratulations to the House Chairwomen who have worked for months composing and arranging music.

Many thanks to the staff who have supported the girls, including the House Tutors who attended rehearsals.
Congratulations to all students who, with the support of their families, were involved.  I am sure that our students will remember the performances with great pride for many years.
