KPA

Welcome to the Korowa Parent's Association (KPA).

New KPA Rules

The KPA is currently reviewing its Rules of Association.  The draft Rules are provided on the righthand side of this page.

As a parent with a child at Korowa, you are automatically a member and we would love you to be involved. Please come along to meetings, meet the committee and share your ideas with us. This way we can make the KPA relevant to you.

Our mission is to

  1. Provide opportunities to make new friends through social functions and communication between parents, friends and staff of Korowa.
  2. Raise funds for the provision of amenities, equipment and scholarships and prizes to assist our children at Korowa.
  3. Work closely with the School Council, Principal and Executive, teachers and other Groups in the Korowa Community for the advancement and progress of our School.
  4. Provide a forum for parents and students to gain more knowledge of facilities and  opportunities available to them.

The KPA conducts various fundraising activities during the year. These have included Fairs, Art Shows, Trivia Nights and Banquet Auctions. KPA fundraising provides additional computers, library resources, playground renovations, school furniture and furnishings and scholarships. We welcome and need your new ideas.

Fund raising is a cornerstone for the KPA and we organise Parent Education Evenings, Parent events and Welcome Evenings for new parents. The KPA also supports other 'Friend' groups in the school. Parents, students, staff, friends and Korovians work together to achieve a common goal and the community spirit is strong. All parents are encouraged to become involved in the KPA.  It is an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas with senior staff and other parents and for learning about current school issues.

A volunteer committee of parents, plus School representatives directs the KPA. The KPA committee, in conjunction with members of friends groups, continue to review the meeting schedule and format.  The objective is to continue to grow friends and fundraising at the School. Our meetings are open to all, and any interested parents are very welcome to attend.  We encourage parents and friends to be involved in whatever capacity they wish.

Meetings are held once a term and a schedule will be circulated to all parents at the beginning of the new School year.

There are a number of sub-groups with specialised areas of interest that fall under the umbrella of the KPA: Events Committee, Friends of Junior School, the Snow Sports Team, Friends of Netball, Friends of the Performing Arts, and Friends of Rowing. Friend of Groups.

The Events Committee
The Events Committee is a group of proactive parents who have taken the role of major events organisation under their wing. Meetings take place during the day and are of a practical nature, dealing with the organisation of whole-school events. The Events Committee have had great success and fun, running events incluing the Twilight Fair and other events. The Events Committee would like to invite new members to join.

There is a KPA mailbox situated in the front office for written communications.
