FO Rowing
The Korowa Rowing Program began in November 1998, and in March the following year two crews of Korowa girls first competed in the Head of Schoolgirls' Regatta.
Today Korowa Rowing has a new fleet of racing and regulation boats, and provides about 80 girls with the opportunity to be competitive against other schools in an extremely enjoyable and rewarding team sport.
The Director of Rowing, Mr Peter Somerville, supervises the program and he is supported by a committed coaching team and the Friends of Rowing. Girls are eligible to join the program from Term 3, Year 8, and training is undertaken at the YMCA shed on Albert Park Lake. Each year a Rowing Captain is elected from the Senior Squad and School Colours are awarded for Rowing.
Friends of Rowing is a dedicated group of Korowa parents formed to support the Korowa rowers formed to support the rowers of Korowa in their chosen sport. Parents meet on the riverbank for regattas sharing in conversation and refreshments in the Korowa marquee. Any parent wishing to be a part of Friends of Rowing is most welcome to join us at monthly meetings.
