Student Exchanges

Truly experiencing cultural diversity is an important aspect of the Korowa curriculum.  In addition to the many and varied activities occurring in the class room, Korowa students have numerous opportunities to spend time in overseas countries.

Korowa offers study in four languages including French, German, Chinese and Japanese. Students can also participate in group exchanges to France, Germany, China and Japan where sister school contacts have been established.

Korowa's sister school in Tokyo, Japan is Edogawa Girls' High School. The partnership between our schools has been established for more than twenty years. Each year a group of students from Edogawa spend a week at Korowa early in Term 3. Korowa students are able to travel to Edogawa for at least three weeks, staying with host families and attending school.  

A four-week exchange is offered to students  of German in Year 10 and 11 in the November/December period to the Veit-Hoeser Gymnasium in Bogen. Our schools celebrated ten years of our partnership this year in 2009. The students stay with host families, attend school and participate in group excursions. There is also an option to stay longer at the schools. The German host sisters visit Korowa in March or July. There is also the possibility to attend the Oekunemisches Gymnasium in Bremen.

Korowa has also established links with the Fudan High School in Shanghai and the inaugural group exchange will take place in November 2009. Students will be placed with host families, attend school and take part in group excursions.

Students of French can take part in four week group exchanges to France. Our partner school is the St Catherine's of Siena School in Aix-en-Provence.  Students take part in excursions, attend school and stay with host families. French students visit Korowa in July.      

All students on these group exchanges are accompanied by Korowa language teachers and group leaders who are former students who took part in previous exchanges.  These exchanges are not just tours. Students stay with host families and take part in everyday activities. They gain a wonderful insight into another way of life, improve their language skills  and establish long lasting friendships.
