120 Years

Korowa Quilt Challenge

The Korowa Quilt Challenge is part of the School's 120th anniversary celebrations, which will take place in 2010.  Quilts prepared for this Challenge will be displayed at Korowa's Community Day on Sunday 21 March 2010.  We invite all members of our community to be involved in the Challenge.

You can submit a whole quilt, or just a block.  You are welcome to complete your quilt by yourself, or with others.  Mothers and daughters could work together to prepare a quilt as could sisters or friends - or it might be an opportunity to make some new friends.  Please let us know if you would like to join a group and we can put you in touch with other like-minded individuals.  It's up to you - whatever you would enjoy most.

We are quite flexible in terms of the type of quilt or block you prepare.  However, your quilt or block MUST contain a piece of the Korowa (either current or older) summer uniform fabric.  (The School will provide a piece to get you underway.)  Ideally, your quilt will also make some reference to the history of Korowa or Korowa itself.  Some ideas include house colours, school buildings, subjects and classes, uniforms over the ages or....

Further details about the Quilt Challenge are provided in the Korowa Quilt Challenge Guide on the right hand side of this webpage.  It also contains information about purchasing additional quantities of the summer uniform fabric.

Please complete the Korowa Quilt Challenge entry form (also provided to the right of this page) and submit it to the School as soon as possible.  We'll send you your piece of fabric to get you underway.

Finished (and ready to hang) quilts will be required at Korowa by end Feburary 2010.  Blocks will be required at the School by end November 2009.

You can choose to simply lend Korowa your quilt or block for the exhibition or donate your quilt or block to Korowa, in which case it will be used for fundraising purposes.  If blocks are donated for fundraising purposes, you may care to contribute $10 (non-mandatory) towards the cost of the purchase of completing the quilt.

If you could assist with piecing donated blocks into quilts, we would appreciate your help.  Please contact us to let us know.

For further information about the Korowa Quilt Challenge, please contact our 120th Anniversary Co-ordinators, Annie Sterck and Wendy Lawler.

We look forward to seeing your creation!
